Self Assembly Tips

Self-Assembly Tips

Investing in a SlumberBunk product means you deserve a smooth assembly experience. Here are some essential tips to save you time and hassle.

Before You Start

Avoid Power Tools: Although power tools can speed up the process, they often over-tighten screws, leading to split components. Hand tools give you better control to avoid over-tightening.
Identify Components: Match all parts with the assembly instructions before starting. Knowing their purpose and location beforehand will simplify the assembly process.
Check for Missing/Damaged Parts: Contact us for advice if any components are missing or damaged. Reach us at 0333 577 9757 or contact@slumberbunks.co.uk
Correct Screw Size: The fittings pack may contain screws of similar sizes. Refer to the instructions to ensure you select the right size, as using an incorrect size can split the wood.
Cam Screws: Screw cam screws in firmly so they are flush with the surface without indenting it. Avoid over-tightening.

    During Assembly

Follow the Instructions: Assemble in the order specified in the instructions to avoid confusion and potential damage.
Proper Dowel Insertion: Insert dowels into the indicated components, not the adjoining ones. Hand-insert dowels; if tight, use a soft mallet with gentle taps.
Fully Insert Dowels: Ensure dowels are fully inserted before moving to the next step, especially when glue is required.
Use Glue Where Instructed: Only apply glue where specified in the instructions.
Component Orientations: Some parts are drilled for either left or right use. Identify their correct orientation before inserting dowels and screws.

      Joining Components

Align Components Properly: Join components gently and squarely, supporting one on a level surface. Avoid forcing dowels in at an angle to prevent splitting.
Align Screws with Pilot Holes: Ensure screws align with pre-drilled holes before fully tightening. For self-tapping screws, correct positioning is crucial.
Square Furniture Carcasses: Ensure carcasses are perfectly square before nailing back panels. Hammer nails squarely to prevent them from protruding through the other side. Use an adequate number of evenly spaced nails for structural integrity.

        Maintenance & Care

Regular Checks: Periodically check all joints for tightness, especially during the first few weeks of use or after moving the product.
Keep Instructions Safe: Store assembly instructions and any provided tools for future reference.
Disassembly Advice: If you need to disassemble, such as when moving house, contact us for guidance. Keep all fittings together and avoid sourcing replacements from DIY stores.
Follow Specific Instructions: Adhere strictly to our instructions, even if you have prior experience with other flat-packed furniture, as manufacturers use different assembly methods.

Following these tips will help ensure your SlumberBunk product is assembled correctly and remains sturdy and reliable for years to come.
